In Focus | The Design Files Open House 2017
After a two year hiatus, The Design Files Open House is back this year showcasing over 60 talented local designers, all presented within the ultimate Australian home setting in Melbourne. The set up has taken TDF founder Lucy Feagins and her team nine months to develop, three months of construction and a week of bumping in and styling and finessing - needless to say, it's quite a procedure. And the best part about the event? Everything can be purchased on the spot - lucky us!
The Design Files Open House was built from scratch within a lofty, light- filled warehouse space and will feature an expansive open-plan layout, incorporating a moody master bedroom, playful kids space, contemporary living and dining zones, home bar, new custom-designed kitchen and landscaped courtyard.
This year the new additions include custom-designed courtyard, built from scratch by award-winning local landscape designer Phillip Withers. A brand new kitchen, designed and built by Cantilever, a family-owned business known for their beautiful, locally-made kitchens. There will also be a Speakers Series: for the first time, a program of casual speaker events will be hosted at Open House, featuring TDF founder Lucy Feagins, along with an inspiring line-up of local makers, stylists, and small business operators with wisdom to share.
Major event sponsors for this year include -
Dulux Australia – The Design Files Open House utilises four key colours from the Dulux 2018 Colour Forecast – Dulux Dieskau, Dulux Chainmail, Dulux Friends, and Dulux Very Terracotta.
Miele - featuring the latest kitchen and laundry appliances from Miele, including the new
Art Line series.
Dan Murphy’s - there will be an enticing home bar, stocked by Dan Murphy’s.
Cult - The new NAU Australian-designed furniture collection from Cult will be showcased.
SONOS - Intuitive, wireless home audio in every room, from SONOS.
