The sister property and neighbour of reimagined motel, The IslaCasita in NSW’s South Coast, pays homage to its owners’ European roots. The ‘little house’, is a mindfully designed motel, giving a sentimental nod to the quintessential Australian beach holidays of our youth.

‘We’re extremely excited to be opening Casita as The Isla’s little cousin,’ says Yanna Dascarolis, Casita co-owner and Clay Interiors founder, who alongside a group of friends and family, brought the vision for Casita to life following their foray into accommodation with the opening of The Isla, back in 2022.

‘We’ve designed Casita to be a home-away-from-home. A place for small gatherings and laid-back family adventures,’ she shares. ‘Our aim is to provide a much-needed accommodation option in Batemans Bay, catering to the many larger groups and families visiting the area. With the opening of Casita, visitors have an alternative to the traditional holiday cabins in the area, combining the luxury of hotel amenities with the comfort and space of a private apartment-sized suite.’

Once a block of tired 1980s built holiday apartments, Casita has been completely transformed, blending the natural and raw beauty of the South Coast landscape with moodier, nostalgic tones inspired by European aesthetics. The property was completely repainted outside and within, the interior colour palette includes rich maroons, blush pinks and warm neutrals, creating a retro and playful yet calming series of spaces.

With families and larger groups in mind, the motel features seven two-bedroom suites. Designed for longer stays, each suite features a fully equipped kitchen and modern amenities to ensure a relaxing and easy stay with all the convenience of a motel, with hotel luxury.

Each suite features luxury bathroom amenities from LEIF, Smart TVs, complimentary ST. ALi coffee pods and T2 teas and high-speed internet. There’s also a communal outdoor area, laundry, outdoor shower, BBQ facilities and easy access to the beach, which is a short two-minute walk away.

From the Standard Suite through to the Alto Suite (Casita’s penthouse option) the rooms offer the luxury of a hotel, perfect for a couple, a group of friends or a family!
