The strength and resilience of the arts in our community in the face of crisis should never be underestimated.

‘I’m a great believer in people power and right now there is a groundswell of people power on the rise around the world,’ says Saint Cloche gallery director, Kitty Clark.

From the beginning, the gallery has had deeper meaning than purely a beautiful space to exhibit beautiful artwork, ‘When I started, I wanted to establish a real community around Saint Cloche, drawing together like-minded people and do good things, fun things, and meaningful things together – this is what brings me the greatest sense of fulfilment and joy.’

The gallery’s latest show, Coast to Coast, will be featuring the work of 70 local artists (including over 100 artworks), coming together in an effort to raise much-needed funding, which will be equally donated to UNICEF’s Emergency Ukraine Appeal and GIVIT – helping people displaced and profoundly impacted by the devastating floods in QLD and NSW.

‘We need to look out for each other, and we need to take action now, to save the future for coming generations,’ says Kitty.

Works have been generously donated by artists and galleries from around the country, they will be exhibited at Saint Cloche and available to bid via the auction platform Gala Bid. Featured artists include Ash Holmes, Ella Dunn, Libby Haines, Mel Lumb and Ken Done.

‘Artists are the creatives, the visionaries, the ‘seers’ and the interpreters in a lot of ways and they are not driven by economics and commerciality most of the time. Often, artists have their hearts and minds in the right place,’ says Kitty.

Special Guest, Wentworth Independent Candidate, Allegra Spender will officially open Coast to Coast along with UNICEF Young Ambassador, Isabelle Shaw on Wednesday 10th May. The auction and exhibition ends midnight Sunday 15th May – all artworks start at $300, there will also be lucky door raffle tickets available to purchase at $20 each, to be in the draw to win some great prizes donated by located businesses in the community.

One of the incredible things about the Saint Cloche community is that it enables us to help people in a way we can’t as individuals. When we share our strength, conviction, sense of responsibility and compassion and the workload – we can achieve so much more.
