Fletcher House, by SE DÉA, rekindles the design aesthetics of bygone eras, honouring the past in a new playful and layered setting.
Home to a young family who were keen to more from inner-city Paddington to beachside Tamarama, the family sought a revamp to their new coastal retreat with style and personality to match their own edgy, vintage and bold taste.
‘We were inspired to design a space where coast meets the city – a juxtaposition of the earthy and textural qualities of the beach mixed with urban sophistication,’ says SE DÉA director Samantha Birtles.
SE DÉA has applied dark accents in aged metals, used carefully and sparingly, adding depth within the spaces. Stones in colours reminiscent of the ocean draw inspiration from the vast expanse of the sea that surrounds the home, adding a layer of playfulness to the palette.
‘In most rooms, walls are left white and serve as the perfect backdrop for the eclectic and colourful pieces that decorate the home. The revival of classic pieces in a contemporary manner evokes a feeling of nostalgia in the home setting, giving the space a mildly retro vibe,’ says Samantha.
The palette shifts on the upper level – the master bedroom upstairs is a noticeably earthier palette, interlaced with the edge that runs throughout. Elements of wabi sabi aesthetic create a more serene space, as the master ensuite leads on to a relaxing sauna.
Demonstrating Se Déa's dedication to creating personalised environments that reflect the preferences and lifestyle of their clients, Fletcher House is an authentic seaside refuge. Designed for memories to be made and relaxation to be met.
