Miss Clara boutique hotel, located in central Stockholm, started out as a girl’s school. Originally built in 1910, the building’s most recent reincarnation is the latest hotel from Sweden’s Nobis Group. Taking its name from the school’s first headmistress, the redesign of the Miss Clara hotel is a symbiotic study in Art Nouveau and Scandinavian design.
The hotel is made up of 92 rooms and four suites - the public and private spaces are a mix of the past with the present, made up of moody, textural finishes against the backdrop of the building’s historic classic bones. Warm honey tones and burnt caramels contrast against whitewashed walls and arched windows, while modern furniture and fittings are a juxtaposition against the dark parquetry floors and warm finishes. The cleverly designed space is a magnet for creative and worldly travellers. “The typical Miss Clara guest is a modern traveller with a young and curious mind — they work within the creative industry such as arts, fashion, lifestyle and music,” shares Matilda Sjöberg from Nobis.
