As the creative director of CLO Studios, a Noosa-based styling service and online design boutique, Chloe Tozer and her builder partner, Jack Clissold, put their creative talents together to create Villa des Fleurs, a dreamy home in the coastal village of Peregian Beach, on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.
Aptly translating to ‘house of flowers’, Villa des Fleurs, has been lovingly transformed from a somewhat tired double storey 70s brick home into a French countryside and Italian influenced light-filled haven, surrounded by lush gardens. ‘We are inspired by how the Europeans live; modest spaces, with lots of detail, surrounded by gardens,’ shares Chloe.
Creatively speaking, the duo are a dream team—Jack’s innate knowledge of building and craftsmanship alongside Chloe’s interior design background created the perfect combination to turn their Mediterranean dream home vision into a reality.
‘Villa des Fleurs is a creative haven for us, years of dreaming, planning and creating have led us here. Inspired by our love for the environment, history, culture and artisan skill, we are drawn to the old ways of creating,’ Chloe says.
Inside the home, the materials were all thoughtfully considered—whether repurposed, reclaimed or made from materials that will age and enrich over time. On the ground floor, recycled terracotta tiles by Eco Outdoor are reminiscent of an old Tuscan villa, complimenting the peachy pink and creamy white rendered walls covering the exterior and interior of the home. The warmth of the rendered interior walls invites a playful use of colour, as seen in the bright yellow laundry, in the unique upholstery selections and the couple’s art collection .
Custom furniture and upholstery feature alongside a considered collection of vintage pieces, including two bedside lamps and a floor lamp from the 1950s by Audoux et Minet sourced from the Saint Ouen market in Paris. In the living area, a tangerine Mario Bellini Camaleonda Sofa from Space tops an Armadillo Agra rug in midnight, grounding the space.
From the heirlooms and treasures sourced from their travels to the beehive and lush vegetable gardens, every touch point inspires rituals of cooking, creating and play. Combining their creative philosophy, Chloe and Jack have created a home that’s authentic to the way they love to live.
