Located in the Sydney North Shore suburb of Waverton, Waverton House was a beautifully maintained and extended worker’s cottage, which was also incredibly bland and in need of a reimagination.

The owner of the home called on Claudia Lambert Interiors, to give the spaces personality and warmth, reflective of the owner’s Indian heritage. The once uninspiring and soulless spaces have been transformed into a home which balances art, colour and texture throughout.

The owner’s love of colour was a pivotal part of the design process, Claudia chose a strong palette throughout, applying additional deep jewel tones, which can be found through artwork, objects and soft furnishings.

The interior spaces are all incredibly layered; there’s plush velvet on furniture in caramels, browns and merlots, contrasting against brass detailing in the lighting, rattan in the chairs, colourful art, as well as decorative elements and stone in the furniture.

The art in the spaces was chosen by the home owner not to suit the interiors specifically, but more selected by the owner because of their taste and connection to a piece. Each and every room in the home features a piece art - an important element in each space.

The interior draws on the owner’s cultural heritage and love of colour, with a strong earthy palette punctuated with deep jewel tones.
