Our Pick Of Must-Have Towels
For the bathroom, the bathhouse or the pool—we’ve rounded up 5 must-have towels for the new season.
The Black & White Wave towel from Loom has a coveted waitlist.
Mikala James, the founder and designer of LOOM, first designed the Black & White Wave collection 10 years ago. The timeless design features black and white threads placed to give the effect of mini ‘waves’. Using traditional shuttle-looms, artisans spend months weaving each collection.
The slow, deliberate method is not only a testament to artisan’s craftsmanship, but also to the quality and durability of the towels. Made from the highest quality certified organic Turkish cotton, each towel is soft, highly absorbent, and environmentally-friendly.
‘Our experience with Loom’s weavers is a journey—it’s collaborative, considered and holistic. Our aspiration is to continue to work with weavers practising traditional techniques, while producing emotive and artful designs Loom is distinctively known for,’ shares Mikala.
Each unique Loom collection is exclusively designed by Mikala, utilising texture, pattern and colour inspired by the natural world.
The Black & White Wave collection includes face towels, hand towels, bath mats and bath towels.
The Busby Pool Towel by BAINA was designed to elevate the ritual of outdoor bathing.
Designed in Australia and manufactured in Portugal, BAINA towelling is made from 100% certified organic cotton in a carefully considered weight to balance softness and absorption. ‘We believe that what we use on our skin should always be a consideration,’ says BAINA.
BAINA towels are made from double-looped terry cloth, using a 2-ply twist—an extra detail in the weaving process, whereby two cotton fibres are twisted together making a rope-like yarn, creating a higher absorbency, drawing moisture to the base of the towel, rather than ‘pushing it around’ like many conventional towels.
All the designs in the BAINA collection have been designed with mindfully with permanence in mind. By following the brand’s care guide, you can extend the longevity of your BAINA pieces and minimise your impact on the environment.
