‘I was inspired to divide the space into interactive sections to lead our customers on a spatial journey. This vision was realised through introducing linen sheer curtains, which not only delineate the space and create moments of intrigue but also introduce a tactile quality and soften the industrial feel of the space,’ says RJ Living head stylist, Jess Galtry.
The inclusion of louvered shutters, a hallmark of Australian living, brings a homely feel to the open-plan setting to the new space.
The new Alexandria retail location for Australian-owned and designed furniture brand, RJ Living, is set in an expansive industrial style space, complete with distinctive design elements such as timber beams, polished concrete floors, expansive windows and louvered shutters. Wandering through the sun drenched space and its different sections, it almost feels like you’re in the warehouse apartment of an incredibly stylish friend!
RJ Living’s new space is their first location in Sydney—a response to their Sydney-based client’s wishes to bring the brand from Melbourne closer to home. ‘This new space will provide Sydneysiders with an unparalleled experience in contemporary design. Styled by RJ Living head stylist, Jess Galtry, the new 355 sqm immersive space is divided into interactive sections, taking customers on a spatial journey where they can experience different ‘rooms’ in the home, and also imagine how a piece will look and feel in their own space.
‘I wanted to create an immersive environment that represents the relaxed, Australian lifestyle that RJ Living embodies. It’s a space that accentuates the beauty and craftsmanship of every furniture piece, while serving as a platform for inspiration and creativity,’ shares Jess.
A firm believer that a home should transcend functionality and also reflect the unique personalities of its owners, Jess created the different areas to cater to various aesthetics and lifestyles. ‘This approach ensures that each visitor can find inspiration and envision how our products can seamlessly integrate into their own homes, enhancing their living experience,’ she says.
