The tones of winter are the main inspiration behind The Slow Life. The collection celebrates the craft of pottery, the makers and the glazers – each piece is hand glazed, with care and consideration in our Pakenham workshop. Good things are made slowly.

Winter days call for slower moments, ideally huddled indoors with a warm drink or comforting bowl of soup. There is nothing quite like selecting your favourite ceramic piece to really slow down and saviour time indoors in the cooler months.

That’s why we’ve teamed up with Robert Gordon to give one lucky reader the chance to win a $500 voucher from their new Australian made collection – The Slow Life Collection!

The Gordon family has been designing and making pottery since 1945, with a strong level of quality and craftsmanship built up over three generations, locally made and designed ceramics have always been the core focus.

The Robert Gordon Pakenham workshop, in Melbourne, continues to be the heartbeat of all their pottery creations. ‘It’s both our heritage and our future. It’s important for us to maintain this element of our business for many reasons, one being, to continue on the education of the craft. As a family, we have been making pottery in Australia since 1945, and although we have always been potters, there is always something new and exciting to learn each and every day,’ shares Robert Gordon creative director, Kate Gordon.

The Slow Life Collection is all about carving out time, slowing down and being in the moment. Each piece in the collection is designed and glazed in signature Robert Gordon earthy tones, seasoned for winter living. ‘We love to celebrate the colours of the land around us. As kids we were left to roam free in the hills of Gembrook, with very little parental supervision (it was the 80s after all!). The colours of the bush; the olives, reds and browns, are what we know and love,’ says Kate.

Each piece in the earthy toned collection is hand glazed with care, celebrating the craft of pottery, the makers and the glazers. Like all good things, the pieces are made with intention because, ‘Good things are made slowly,’ Kate says.

The stylish and functional pieces are available in a wide range of mugs, plates, bowls, dinner sets and more – ideal for living and everyday use. ‘Our pieces are made from 100% Australian clay. They are high fired, which means that they are oven, microwave and dishwasher safe. We want our pieces to be loved and used, every day,’ says Kate.

Robert Gordon also has our interiors covered, the Robert Gordon Interiors range of interior products including lighting, wall hooks and basins, adhere to the same philosophy and integrity as the high fired stoneware collections they have been producing for over 75 years.
