‘This body of work marks a shift in my practice, bringing a newfound softness shaped by my materials and a recent move to a new studio,’ says Skye Jamieson.

‘I rarely plan the outcome—shapes reveal themselves through the process, reflecting emotional tension and the beauty in imperfection,’ says Astrid Salomon .

An Eye for Eye, Saint Cloche Gallery’s first exhibition for 2025, explores the work of two talented artists—Melbourne-based sculptor, Astrid Salomon and Byron Bay-based painter, Skye Jamieson.
The exhibition sees sculpture and painting meet, where the proverb, ‘an eye for an eye’, evolves into a poetic exchange of perspectives between the two artists.
Astrid’s ceramic practice delves into the interplay between form, emotion, and storytelling, guided by a conversation with the material itself. She hand-builds each piece using the coiling technique, a delicate balance of raw and refined.
‘I’m fascinated by how we curate a way of looking out at the world while unprocessed emotions linger in the shadows. My work emerges from surrendering to an intuitive state, translating thoughts and emotions into physical form,’ shares Astrid.
Skye’s work explores the natural world and the interplay of water, light, and the environment, with each brushstroke serving as a meditation on balance and fluidity.
‘This body of work marks a shift in my practice, bringing a newfound softness shaped by my materials and a recent move to a new studio. Rainwater connects these works to the environment, inviting questions about transformation and resonance,’ Skye says.
When viewed together, Astrid and Skye’s artwork create a visual conversation—each piece opening a window into understanding the unique perspective and reality of the other.
