Step into the new Tigmi Trading store in Byron Bay and you may have trouble ever wanting to leave.
Tucked away in the Arts and Industrial Estate on Bayshore Drive, the large-scale space has been designed to give Tigmi Trading’s meticulously curated collection the perfect backdrop.
“We custom-fitted the space for every aspect of our business, taking cues from the many origins of our global offerings,” says creative director Danielle McEwan.
Meaning ‘my home’ or ‘house’ in Berber, Tigmi Trading sources and selects timeless, ethically made artisan rugs, textiles, objects, lighting and art from the Atlas Mountains to the Black Sea and far-flung places in between.
And that eclecticism is reflected in its interior design, from the Mediterranean-inspired entrance to a trio of industrial, steel-framed archways to a feature display made by Danielle’s close friend and longtime creative collaborator Steve Clark of denHolm.
Says Danielle: “Parts of our store can move and shift so that it can be reimagined over and over. We are enjoying playing with our collections in new ways.”
Tigmi Trading has been part of the Byron Bay business community for over 20 years and is a passionate supporter of the region as a whole.
“What the last 12 months in particular has shown is that while in the past Byron may have been a magnet for those striving for an alternate modus operandi, it is this vision of striving for more of a conscious way to live that is now part of a global movement.”
