Gloss House, designed in collaboration by Studio Doherty and Enth Degree Architects, embodies the spirit of experimental openness and the belief that entertaining is not just an event, but a central function of the home.

Gloss House is a newly designed and built home, where the floor plan and its interaction with the site were meticulously moulded from scratch to align perfectly with the desired living experience.

Spread across two levels, Gloss House redefines the traditional family home by transforming it into a destination in its own right. The interior carefully was crafted to reflect the personal expressions of its owners, exuding a playful engagement with colour – a vibrant ode to the ever-inspiring mid-century aesthetic.

Materiality was at the forefront of the design process – despite the clients being the owners of a terrazzo company, the use of the material was not pervasive. Instead, it was cleverly interwoven with other elements, granting the design team the freedom to curate the spaces with an astute eye for creating an enriched and layered interior.

‘Upon entering you are immediately met with the custom spiral steel staircase and column, finished in an ultra-glossy electric blue. This pop of colour is just one of many eccentric and dynamic inserts that punctuates and pierces through a neutral base of warm timber (used as both ceiling and wall cladding), white stucco and soft grey terrazzo floors,’ says Studio Doherty.

From the onset of the creative journey, the vision was clear – to design a home that effortlessly embraces openness and warmth, inviting guests to feel at ease and fostering an environment where entertainment is at the very heart. Studio Doherty and Enth Degree Architects ensured a harmonious blend of interior design and architecture that beautifully merged the expectations of a residential sanctuary that also functions as a social haven.

Gloss House opens its doors with an air of welcoming hospitality. Every space within the home has been thoughtfully orchestrated to accommodate the vibrant tapestry of social gatherings. From the tastefully curated living areas that entice conversations to the sleek and stylish kitchen that inspires culinary get-togethers, every space reflects the intention to nourish and foster connection.

Beyond the harmonious synchrony of architectural and design elements resides a sanctuary for the senses. Gloss House dances with light, capturing the rays of the sun and casting an iridescent glow upon its carefully selected palette of vibrant colours. Each room is an experiential journey, a celebration of hues that encapsulates a playful spirit. It is here that design meets emotion, where the residents find solace in their personal expression amidst a vivid and dynamic visual symphony.

By infusing every detail with a love for Palm Springs and a deep appreciation for mid-century style, Gloss House stands tall as a testament to design innovation, showing us that a home should not merely be a shelter but a hub of joyous connection and captivating creativity.
