The year 2021 has been a tale of the unexpected. So is this year’s colour library from Haymes Paint.
Awakening, Haymes’ new collection and Volume 15 of its extensive colour library, is squarely focused on introducing soothing and comforting colour schemes into our homes as an antidote to these ongoing times of uncertainty.
Expressed as three tonal palettes – Game Changer, Clearview and In The Moment – there’s an emphasis on natural colours and textures for comfort and security, with injections of vibrant colour to brighten our outlook and remind us of the value of what we have around us.
‘One thing I’ve learned is how colour affects how you feel; it truly has the power to shift a mood,’ says Wendy Rennie, Haymes Paint Colour & Concept Manager. ‘The reason why there’s been such an uptick in home improvements and homewares over this pandemic is because of how people are feeling. We’re all trying to make our homes feel as truly comforting, uplifting or calming as we need right now.’
The Game Changer palette has a playful vibrancy and is imbued with a fresh sense of optimism. The palette features powdered blue, sunset pinks, aqua greens and mustard yellows, which draws on themes of fun and energy: something we all sorely need in our interior spaces right now.
Clearview features deep tones of ink blues to dark forest greens to light greys and powder blues.
Says Wendy: ‘I’ve personally aligned to the Clearview theme. I have literally undertaken a “sea change” to warmer weather with a more laidback lifestyle, embracing both physically and aesthetically the Clearview attitude, resulting in a lifestyle change and more importantly, a different, more positive mindset change for our family.’
The last of the trio, In The Moment, is a fresh take on the Australian landscape, featuring various shades of rust, earthy browns, burnt oranges and organic neutrals. The warmth of these colours creates a welcome sense of security in any home.
‘With the way the world is, our constant exposure to news and information is growing on all levels,’ says Wendy. ‘Colours that can assist in making us feel more focused, grounded and reflective usually feel restorative as well. Resilience and mindset are so important right now.’
If there’s one thing we’ve learned in 2021 it’s that interior spaces are more important to our wellbeing than ever before. Haymes Paint has responded to this change in the way we live and delivers more than colours in its seasonal offerings; it delivers a new way of seeing the world.
