After discovering a gap in the market for sustainable and beautifully designed water filters for the home, Montana Mincher and her partner Declan Walters, from Kyn & Folk, set out to design their own – creating vessels that are not only sculptural, but also incredibly practical.
The duo have just added a new piece to the collection: the Posie Carafe, a purposeful stoneware carafe, which houses two-and-a-half litres of fresh liquid. Designed to be a permanent fixture on the kitchen benchtop - resting alongside the Ceramic Water Filter to make light work of refills, or to be enjoyed around the dining table.
‘Posie has been on our minds for quite some time now – it was manifested after seeing the many and varied vessels our friends, family and customers were using to replenish their water filters,’ says Montana. ‘It seemed like a natural extension of the brand to design something that would lean into the notion of creating a ritualistic experience around our daily hydration habits.’
The Posie Carafe was designed to be a permanent fixture in the home, whether it’s resting alongside one of Kyn & Folk’s water filters, enjoyed around the dining table or housing a bouquet of blooms as a stand-alone statement piece. ‘We wanted this to be an object that would draw the eye and not be left in the cupboard between uses.’
Following in the footsteps of Kyn & Folk’s water filter designs, the Posie Carafe comes in three signature glossy glazes. A pearly ivory (Dove), an earthy beige (Dune) and a viridescent green (Pistachio).
‘Our intention for these glazes was to embody a captivating beauty that was not too intrusive in the modern home. This resilience in a kitchen environment and the complimenting filter glazes make for a pairing that sits with such beautiful interest and intent,’ Montana says.
