‘I wanted to paint floral shapes and leaves with a loose and contemporary approach,’ says Sheridan senior textile designer, Flavia.

The Willows print features a hand painted floral artwork in vivid colour. Digitally printed onto a smooth cotton sateen base, you can see–and almost feel–the detail in every brush stroke.

The Willows print is available in a Quilt Cover, Tailored Pillowcase Pair, and Tailored European Pillowcase.

MEET THE MAKER: WILLOWS

Flavia is one of Sheridan’s senior textile designers and the artist behind this season’s Willows print.

The concept for Willows was inspired by still life in modern art. ‘I wanted to paint floral shapes and leaves with a loose and contemporary approach,’ shares Flavia.

For the design of the collection she chose acrylic paints, favouring the way different colours blend with each brush stroke. ‘It’s these details that are captured so well in a digital print—it’s like the whole bed is your canvas and I’m creating a piece of art,’ she adds.

Flavia’s creative process begins with a deep dive researching pattern and colour. ‘For me, the initial process is quite loose until I feel I have something with potential, and then I’ll develop that concept further. I like to experiment with different mediums and try out new techniques. I’m looking for inspiration and ideas all the time, in everything.’

The Willows print is available in a Quilt Cover, Tailored Pillowcase Pair, and Tailored European Pillowcase.

The Tilley design is available as a quilt cover set or coordinating pillowcase pair. Fully reversible, Tilley features an original print in two complementary colourways—so you can style your bedroom according to your mood!

MEET THE MAKER: FRANZI & TILLEY

Sheridan textile designer, Agnes, is the creative force behind the brand’s Franzi print. A design so lovely, they’ve showcased it twice—the design is also available in their bedding collection as Tilley.

The inspiration came about after design research explored earlier in the year, ‘I love how classic yet contemporary the design is. The small-scale repeating pattern feels very modern as an abstract geometric print. It works perfectly well in our bedding collection as Tilley but also in our loungewear as the Franzi design,’ Agnes says.

A modern geometric print with just a touch of vintage inspiration, the design evokes hand painted mosaic tiles at the bottom of a swimming pool, creating an idyllic and joyful summer scene.

Agnes continues, ‘I think the beautiful thing about design is being able to create meaningful products that bring joy to people. I also love that I can be creative as a part of my work, and it feels like every day is an opportunity to demonstrate different creative ideas.’

Agnes’ Tilley design is available as a Quilt Cover Set or coordinating Pillowcase Pair. Fully reversible, Tilley features Agnes’ original print in two complementary colourways—so you can style your bedroom according to your mood!

You can also shop the print in the Franzi loungewear collection; available as a shirt, pants, slip and robe.

‘I love how classic yet contemporary this design is. The small-scale repeating pattern feels very modern as an abstract geometric print. It works perfectly well in our bedding collection as Tilley, but also in our loungewear as the Franzi design,’ say Sheridan textile designer, Agnes.

The Juni Quilt Cover Set in Bower Blue from Sheridan.

‘I love the vibrant summer-coloured blooms, the way the zesty colours pop on the green background. I wanted it to be a fun and youthful print for summer, and something that gives you that wonderful sense of nostalgia,’ says Sheridan senior textile designer, Clare.

MEET THE MAKER: JUNI

Senior textile designer, Clare, shapes her inspiration into each print she designs at Sheridan, bringing joyful—beautiful designs into homes across Australia.

Juni is one of Clare’s newest designs, perfectly encapsulating a sense of joy and playful wonder. Through layered blooms in saturated colour, Juni is set to brighten your home, and your mood.

‘Juni was inspired by retro road trips, re-visiting fun nostalgic memories of holidays long past, long beach walks and long summer lunches,’ shares Clare.

Growing up in a creative family and having had a passion for drawing and being creative since she was young, Clare has been surrounded by pattern, fabrics, and colour ever since she can remember.

The approach for each new design comes to Clare a few different ways, ‘I always look to multiple sources of reference for inspiration. Inspiration can really come from anywhere—books, galleries, music, even film. Each season is different, that’s why it’s so exciting!’

Clare's Juni print is available in a Quilt Cover Set and a coordinating European Pillowcase. Fully reversible, Juni features bright blooms on the face and scattered bouquets on the reverse—for twice the styling, and twice the fun!

Sheridan’s Batteau collection draws inspiration from childhood memories and found objects.

MEET THE MAKER: BATTEAU

After discovering a love for art at an early age, Sheridan textile designer, Marc, says, ‘Textile design felt like a good fit—as much as I love the artistic side, I also enjoy the problem solving side of design.

Marc’s Batteau print—available as a beach bag, pouch, towel and hat, draws inspiration from childhood memories and found objects, specifically vintage raffia chairs. The layered check design mimics classic weaving techniques, made modern in striking colour.

For Marc, inspiration always starts with research, ‘I’ll look in the usual places, and then try to look in some unexpected areas not necessarily linked to  print and pattern,’ he says.

‘I love Batteau’s striking colour, it’s a bit of a statement, combined with its classic check design,’ adds Marc.

The Batteau print is available in a Beach Bag, Beach Towel, Beach Hat and Beach Pouch.

‘The initial concept for Batteau came from found and remembered objects—I was inspired by retro raffia chairs…  I love its striking colour, it’s a bit of a statement, combined with it’s classic check design,’ says Sheridan textile designer, Marc.
