Artist Statement
The most lovely thing about the experience of making something, is where the materials I am working with can take me. Every material affords a different kind of experience depending on its properties and the stories it carries. With clay, there is a very long history of human interaction imbued in the physical experience and at the same time there is a very momentary aspect to it - The possibility that the form will dissolve back into nothingness, and it often does.
Working with clay is a very physical experience. Centering a lump of clay requires my entire body and complete concentration – everything else fades away by necessity. It is a way of experiencing what feels both present and absent at the same time. These pieces were made using a combination of wheel-throwing and hand-carving techniques, two different experiences that at their best let you forget yourself, and time, momentarily.

For delivery outside of Sydney Metropolitan we can provide a quote, please enquire via hello@hunterandfolk.com for more information. You are welcome to arrange your own shipping or organise pick up from the studio.
