The Suffolk Sofa’s modern design features cool carbon steel legs and contemporary upholstery finishes, in a range of colours inspired by the Australian landscape; including Coastal Moss, Sandstone, Sea Foam and Sunset Rust. ‘We wanted to have fun with the fabrics for the Suffolk Sofa, which is why we chose cord as one of the options—the cord really complements the soft cushions details and gives it a lot of personality,’ says the Koala design team. ‘We love that these colours are incredibly complementary to interior spaces and pair beautifully with natural stones and timbers.’
The original inspiration for the sofa was focused on designing a ‘high quality basic’, says Koala, ‘The "basic" sofa market is filled with sofas that are made with low grade cheap materials and end up on the side of the road after the first thing breaks—this inspired us to create a sofa that was accessibly priced with quality materials that would allow it to last a lifetime.’
The design seamlessly blends style and sustainability with an FSC® Certified frame and covers made with at least 60% recycled fibres that are washable and replaceable. Visual softness and size were also important factors for the design team. ‘It needed to feel accessible and complementary to small and large spaces,’ says Koala. The soft details in the cushion design have been specifically designed to have life and movement in the cover.
